I highly recommend James and St. Helena Hardwood Floors. From our first meeting, I could tell he was busy and had a lot of other jobs but he never made me feel like my small job wasn’t a priority. He was also always a good sport about my hyper puppy wanting to greet him each time he came over, which I appreciated. He made me 2 sets of color samples in order to get to the right color for my rooms, plus he was willing to install new baseboards as part of my refinishing job.
On the day my job was supposed to start, James came himself and did the work himself. How often does the actual owner of the company show up and do the work these days? He was on time too and did everything he said he would do on schedule, also a rarity. He was very careful to setup the jobsite to ensure dust did not spread into the rest of my house and after he was done, there was zero sign of any dust or mess.
My old oak floors look amazing now. There are no signs of the cracks that previously existed between the boards and the new oil color ended up perfect. The baseboard and trim install was also perfectly done.
Overall, I will use James for any future flooring projects. He does great work and is very professional.

"In the midsts of our Calistoga kitchen remodel we realized the hardwood floor underneath the refrigerator had not been refinished and would be exposed with our new refrigerator. After attempting to fix this ourselves we tried to go back to the shop that had done the refinishing of our floors two years ago. They closed business last December, disappointing! We found St. Helena Hardwood Floors online. James answered our call personally and came out the next day. He emailed a quote to me and I approved immediately. He understood our situation and timeline and worked, Friday stripping the floor from the refrigerator to the island, Saturday he stained it, he found the exact stain combination and replicated perfectly! He came back on Sunday and put the first semi gloss coat on the repaired area. A week later he came back on Saturday and put the final top coat on. Our counters were installed the following Monday.
